Column structure of three known Editions of the US Marine Meteorological Journals (1878-94): S. Woodruff, 14 June 2005 The column structure is the same in the August 1878 and February 1883 Eds., but there are differences in the accompanying Instructions. The November 1884 Ed. transitions to 20 columns (adding: compass correction, ship's true course, and true wind direction) but the Instructions still group these under only 17 headings. The (year and month) dates of the Eds. are from p. 17 of the Instructions. Page 1 (the title page) also contains a year; Instructions dated 1885 and 1886 on the title page (and November 1884 on p. 17) were also imaged, but appear to differ from the November 1884 Ed. only on page 2 ("List of Sailing Charts").
